Synopsis[]

An internal investigation is launched after a difficult rescue went awry and a life was lost, on FIRE COUNTRY, Friday, Jan. 6 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+*.

Plot[]

A week following the crash on Ledgewood Bridge, Cal Fire conducts an internal investigation on the events that occurred, with Erika Snow interviewing Station 42.

Gabriela jumped into the water that day and dragged Bode to shore. After Bode is revived, they searched for the road, at which point, they came across the hit-and-run driver, Meg. Gabriela and Bode construct a makeshift splint and help her through the woods before having to stop due to a severe pain in her leg, at which point they realize she's suffering from compartment syndrome. After cutting her leg open to ease the swelling, Gabriela loses consciousness. And so, Bode carries her through the woods and towards a fire started by Manny to attract them.

Unfortunately, while Bode and Gabriela survived the ordeal, Meg did not; she died from internal bleeding after Bode took off with Gabriela. Erika recommends they offer Bode up as the sacrificial lamb, which upsets Vince who asks to speak to Meg's parents. He talks them out of the lawsuit that would blame Bode, resulting in him being let go from Cal Fire's inmate program.

Gabriela, now out of the hospital, heads immediately to speak with Jake, who, after asking about her, says they need to talk about Bode.
