Season 1 of the CBS original drama Fire Country was picked up for a series order on May 12, 2022.^[1] It premiered on October 7, 2022 and concluded on May 19, 2023.

Synopsis[]

Bad choices don't make a bad man. At least that's what Bode Donovan's been told. Midway through a five-year prison stretch, he's been trying to convince himself of it, too. He gets the chance to prove it, signing on to an unconventional prison-release program: in exchange for reduced sentences, convicts are paired with firefighters battling Northern California wildfires. The heat is turned up when Bode's assigned to the program in his rural hometown, the place where all his troubles began.

On February 24, 2022, CBS revealed that Max Thieriot, who co-wrote and executive produced the series, would be starring in the lead role.^[4]
On March 2, 2022, Billy Burke and Kevin Alejandro were cast as series regulars.^[5]
