Tony Phelan is an American writer, director, and producer. He is a co-creator, executive producer, and writer on the CBS original drama, Fire Country.

Biography[]

Phelan made his directorial debut in a 2016 episode of Madam Secretary. However, he is best known for working on ABC's Grey's Anatomy, which was nominated for two Emmys for "Outstanding Drama Series," as well as three WGA awards, one in 2006 for "New Series," which they won, and the other two for "Dramatic Series." He and his wife, Joan Rater, joined the series during its second season, later becoming executive producers alongside Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes. Phelan has also worked on Law & Order: Trial by Jury, Threat Matrix, Haunting Sarah, Fling, MDs, and Council of Dads.
